The College of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) has agreed to pay $243.6 million to 203 ladies who alleged that the college’s former gynecologist-oncologist, Dr. James Heaps, sexually abused them throughout vaginal and breast exams. The settlement was introduced on Tuesday.
Heaps, who denies the allegations, was a college member on the David Geffen College of Medication and carried out medical examinations at UCLA Well being. His involvement with UCLA in varied roles spanned 1983 to 2018. In a press release to the media, the college referred to as Heaps’ alleged conduct “reprehensible.”
