Five dead in Israel shooting — Analysis
A shooting that took place in Tel Aviv’s Bnei Brak suburb on Tuesday night left at least five dead. Israeli officials claim that the assailant was on a motorcycle and opened fire at the Haredi Jewish community.
Initial reports stated that there were four deaths and one serious injury. But, the five survivors have since died.
There was conflicting information about the shooting victim, some Israeli media reports claiming he was shot. “neutralized”Others reported that he was still in hiding. It is not known who he was.
Two or more locations saw shots fired. Ultra-Orthodox Haredi Jews make up a significant portion of Bnei Brak’s 200,000 or so residents.
Although the Israeli authorities are yet to categorize the Bnei Brak terrorist attack, the police remain on alert after the two terror attacks in which Islamic State (formerly ISIS sympathizers) claimed responsibility.
Two terrorists, who had pledged allegiance and support to IS, were killed and wounded in Hadera on Sunday. Hadera is a Mediterranean city halfway between Tel Aviv, Haifa, and Tel Aviv.
The jihadist group also claimed responsibility for last week’s car-ramming and stabbing attack in Beersheba, in which four Israelis were killed.
