George Floyd’s 4yo niece shot — Analysis

While asleep, in the early morning hours of New Year’s Day, the girl suffered a bullet wound to her abdomen.

Local media reported that George Floyd’s 4-year-old niece was injured in New Year’s Day shooting. The child had been hit in the stomach, and could have sustained broken ribs.

At 3 a.m. on Saturday morning, gunfire burst outside an Houston apartment building. It severely injured Arianna, a young girl identified by the Fox affiliate. The outlet cited police, as well as Floyd’s sister LaTonya, who said the bullet had “pierced ribs.”According to reports, two adults and a child lived in the house at that time. They were uninjured.

The girl has moved to a new home. “stable condition” at Texas Children’s Hospital after undergoing surgery, LaTonya said that emergency responders took “hours” to show up, forcing Arianna’s father to drive her to the hospital himself. The doctors said that the child might not have survived if Arianna had waited to be treated.

Although there is no currently known suspect, police are asking for any possible witnesses to provide information.
