Dr Jay Feldman discusses Pain Management

Dr jay Feldman explains the types of Pain and Treatment Options for pain management. Dr Jay Feldman believes everyone has experienced the pain. It’s among the least understood, and untreated. The reason behind this is the experience of one person with the same traumatic event. May be very different from the experience of another. there isn’t a universal treatment.

Types of Pain

There are a variety of types of pain by Dr Jay Felman and their causes can be classified into eight categories that can assist with managing pain

  • Acute pain
  • Chronic pain
  • The pain of breaking through
  • Bone pain
  • Pain in the nerves
  • Phantom pain
  • Pain in the soft tissue
  • Pain is referred to as numbness.

An acute pain

It is sudden and only lasts for a few minutes i.e moments, minutes or hours few days, or a month or two.

It’s usually caused by an incident or injury:

  • A broken bone
  • A fall
  • Cuts or burns
  • Dental work
  • Childbirth and labor
  • Surgery.

Chronic Pain

Chronic pain is persistent pain that lasts for longer than 6 months and is felt every day, says Dr Jay Feldman. It could have started in acute pain however it has remained painful for a long time after the initial injury or incident has gone away or gone away. Chronic pain ranges from mild to intense and can be related to conditions like:

  • Arthritis
  • Back discomfort
  • Cancer
  • Circulation issues
  • Diabetes
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Headache.

Chronic pain can significantly impact people’s lives and make it difficult for them to return to work or engage in physical activities. Dr Jay Feldman, it can result in depression and social isolation. So everyone must do Pain Management to get relief from pain.

Breakthrough Pain

The brief rapid rise in pain happens in those using medications to manage chronic pain caused by ailments such as cancer, arthritis, or fibromyalgia. The level of pain is usually intense, but the site of the pain is typically identical to the patient’s chronic pain.

Bone Pain

It’s a sensation of tenderness burning or pain on one or more bones. Bone pain is often related to conditions or illnesses that impact the structure or function of bone, like cancer or a fracture broken bone or infection leukemia, mineral deficiency sickle cell anemia, or osteoporosis. Many women who are pregnant have pelvic girdle pain.

Nerve Pain

Pain in the nerves is caused by inflammation or nerve damage. It’s typically described as intense burning, shooting or pain. It can be referred to as neuralgia or neuropathic pain. Many describe it as a kind of electric shock. It is usually worse at night.

Pain in the nerves can seriously interfere with a person’s daily life and can affect sleep or work level of activity. People suffering from nerve pain tend to be extremely sensitive to cold and could be in pain at even the tiniest touching. A lot of people suffering from chronic nerve pain develop depression or anxiety. But some of them go for Pain Management to get relief from it. People suffering from neuropathy tend to be sensitive to cold or touch and experience discomfort as a result of things that aren’t normally thought to be painful, for instance, applying pressure to the skin.

The most common reasons for nerve-related pain are:

  • Alcoholism
  • A brain injury or nerves, or the spinal cord
  • Cancer
  • Circulation issues
  • Diabetes
  • Herpes zoster (shingles)
  • Amputation of the Limb
  • Multiple Sclerosis
  • Stroke
  • Vitamin B12 deficiency

Phantom Pain

Phantom pain appears to be coming from an area of your body that has gone away. It is very common among people who have had their limbs amputated, but it differs from phantom limb feeling that is typically not painful.

In the past, doctors believed that ghost pain was a mental issue, but now they realize these are real pain signals that originate from the brain and spinal cord. The symptoms usually improve over time. However, dealing with phantom pain may be difficult for some individuals.

Soft Tissue Pain

It is a feeling of discomfort or pain caused by injury or inflammation of tissues, muscles, or ligaments. It could be accompanied by bruises or swelling. Common causes are:

  • Neck or back discomfort
  • Bursitis
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Rotator cuff injury
  • Sciatic pain
  • Sports injuries, like strains, sprains, or sprains
  • Temporomandibular Joint condition.

Referred to pain

It’s pain that feels like it’s coming from a specific location. However, it is actually the consequence of inflammation or injury of an organ or structure. For example, in an attack of the heart, pain can be felt in the left shoulder, neck, and in into arm on the right. A swollen or injured pancreas may manifest as an ongoing pain in the stomach area, which radiates out towards the back. A ruptured spleen may cause discomfort in the shoulder blade.

Pain that is referred to as a “referred” is a network of interconnected sensory nerves that are responsible for the supply of various tissues. A wound in one region of the network may be misinterpreted by the brain as occurring located in another part of the system. So Pain Management is a basic need if you suffer from it.
