Benefits of Apple cider on the scalp

Apple cider vinegar has been used for centuries by people to control dandruff, kill off any bad bacteria in the scalp, or just to add more shine to the hair. If you have any of these issues you know how bad and embarrassing they can be. Luckily we know that ACV can help us with these issues to get rid of all of the pesky problems we will encounter with our scalp ad hair. Not only does ACV help with any bad bacteria it also helps get rid of any build up in your hair that accumulates over time from using very heavy products that weigh your hair down. There are many benefits of apple cider on the scalp but here are the most common ones.

  1. Antifungal- When your scalp gets itchy there is no discrete way to hide the itchiness. The reason why this happens is that in your scalp there are little microorganisms that love to live there. These microorganisms or fungi survive on dead tissue, such as fingernails, and the outer layers of your skin. When fungi gets into your skin it creates a very unpleasant itch in your scalp. A good way to help relieve this uncomfortable itch is with Apple Cider Vinegar. ACV helps control bacteria and fungi that make your scalp itchy. It lets you get rid of all of the bad bacteria to maintain a healthy scalp.
  2. Exfoliates the scalp: When hair starts to look very frizzy and brittle the reason might be is because the hair is too alkaline. This happens to hair when it becomes dry and the oils in the scalp become like sebum. In order to help fix this, you can add acid into your scalp to help with the dullness but you can’t just add any acid otherwise you will ruin your hair and your scalp. Apple Cider Vinegar contains alpha-hydroxy acid that helps balance the alkaline in your scalp.
  3. Anti-inflammatory: When your scalp starts getting itchy obviously the first thing you want to do is scratch it, the bacteria in your nails transfers out into your scalp that can make it red and inflamed. When you put ACV into your scalp the acidity of the vinegar can kill off the bacteria that has been created by the fungi. The ACV works as an antifungal agent to treat the scalp of any pesky bacteria that has been created by your scalp or from any transferable factors in your daily routine.
  4. Balances PH levels in your scalp: When the levels of your scalp are too high or too low  it can lead you to your scalp developing dandruff. When your scalp develops dandruff it is more prone to itchiness and redness that can lead to a lot of discomfort.  ACV balances these symptoms since it is a very acidic liquid. What the acid from ACV does to the scalp is it kills all of the bacteria that cause any harm to your scalp and hair. The balance of your scalp being thrown off can also lead to more frizz and weaker hair strands. Putting ACV on your scalp can help with all of these problems so you can have more beautiful hair.

How use Apple Cider Vinegar on the Scalp:

The first thing that you want to avoid is using too much ACV and burn or irritate your scalp.  You want to dilute the ACV to 1 part ACV to  5 parts water, 1tbs ACV to 5tbs to be exact. Diluting this will create a concoction that your scalp will love. By diluting it you reduce the acidity from the ACV that way it is easy for your scalp and hair to absorb its benefits. You can also use apple cider vinegar shampoo that works wonders on the hair and scalp.

Once you have your ACV diluted make sure you spay it on your scalp and hair evenly. Most people like to use a squirt bottle they say it gives them better control of where to put the ACV but we recommend using a spray bottle as this will guarantee an even distribution. Work the ACV well into the scalp and the hair with your fingers. Let the ACV sit on your scalp for about 5-10 minutes. This will allow for the solution to kill off any bacteria in the scalp, and any build-up that has accumulated over time from products that you use on a regular basis. Follow this with your usual wash and conditioning hair care routine and your scalp will thank you for it.

All of these benefits of ACV can help your scalp and hair be healthier. Bacteria causes a lot of harm not only to your scalp but it can also be why your hair is weak and brittle. Washing you hair with an ACV solution at least once a month will help you fight all of these problems on your scalp. You will be able to control your dandruff and stop that embarrassing itch on your scalp that has everyone looking.
