U.S. in contact with Haitian officials over effort to free kidnapped American missionaries


Haiti holds the grim status of having the world’s highest number of kidnappings per capita, with 400 Mowaza behind some 80 percent of abductions in recent months, according to Gédéon Jean, director of the Center for Analysis and Research in Human Rights in Port-au-Prince. They are known for their use of mass kidnappings, rapes, and assassinations in Haiti to rule the streets, power, and businesses.
