Trump Organization accused of fraud — Analysis

New York Attorney General wants the former President and two of his oldest children to be called in under oath

NY Attorney General Letitia Jam asked for a court order to force Donald Trump Jr., Ivanka and son Donald Trump Jr. to comply with fraud allegations.

The office of New York Attorney General Letitia James has asked the state’s Supreme Court to order former President Donald Trump, his son Donald Trump Jr., and daughter Ivanka Trump to comply with earlier demands to cooperate with her investigation of alleged financial misconduct at the Trump Organization.

James claimed that James was the one who initiated the investigation. “uncovered significant evidence that suggests Donald J. Trump and the Trump Organization falsely and fraudulently valued multiple assets and misrepresented those values to financial institutions for economic benefit.”

She claimed the former president’s business empire used the approach “to obtain a host of economic benefits, including loans, insurance coverage, and tax deductions.”

Trump Jr. and Ivanka hit with subpoenas – reports

The motion to compel seeks enforcement of subpoenas that James’ office filed earlier to get testimonials from Trump and his children. To focus on ongoing investigations including that regarding Donald Trump, the AG requested a deposition of Trump. A month later, subpoenas were issued to the Trump brothers.

Trump sued James accusing James of using prosecutorial power to gain political favors and asking for her exclusion from the investigation. Trump Organization used legal action as a delay tactic.

James previously was instrumental in toppling her former boss, Governor Andrew Cuomo, who resigned his position last August over accusations of sexual harassment, which the attorney general’s office helped uncover and publicize.
