Small-town mayor to lead Hungary opposition bloc in election


Marki-Zay is a political outsider who was elected mayor of Hodmezovasarhely in the southern part of Hodmezovasarhely. He entered the primary without financial support from the six opposition parties or political support. According to Marki-Zay, a father of seven kids who is a conservative Christian and describes himself as an outsider political leader, he can mobilize voters across all parties including Fidesz disaffected supporters.
