Rapper Kodak Black Is Arrested on Drug Charges in Florida

MIAMI — Rapper Kodak Black was arrested in South Florida on charges of trafficking in oxycodone and possession of a controlled substance.

Bill Kapri is the rapper’s legal name. He was taken into custody in Fort Lauderdale on Friday and awaits his bond hearing.

In a press release, the Florida Highway Patrol stated that Black had been pulled over for driving a purple SUV that was tinted darker than what is allowed.

After smelling marijuana, they opened the car and discovered a bag containing 31 pills and nearly $75,000 worth of cash. They later discovered that the tablets contained oxycodone.

The agency says record checks also revealed that Black’s vehicle tag and driver’s license were both expired.

Black’s attorney, Bradford Cohen, said on Twitter that “there are always additional facts and circumstances that give rise to a defense, especially in this case.”

“We will get him a bond today and move forward with resolving the matter quickly,” he said.

Black was also taken into custody in South Florida for trespassing. Later, the Prosecutors declined to continue with this case.

Trump’s three year sentence in federal prison for embezzling documents to purchase weapons was reduced by Trump on January 2020. Black was only halfway through his sentence.
