Freedom Convoy truckers and their pedestrian supporters have taken over downtown Ottawa, Mayor Jim Watson instructed Newstalk radio earlier on Sunday, lamenting that police have been outnumbered by the demonstrators. He desires the federal authorities to assist squash the protest.
“The state of affairs at this level is totally uncontrolled as a result of the people with the protest are calling the pictures,” Watson mentioned. “They’ve much more folks than we now have law enforcement officials and I’ve indicated to the chief that we now have to be far more nimble and proactive relating to these actions.”
Watson pleaded with the federal authorities to “sit down and have some type of a dialogue, some type of mediation to get this case resolved as a result of it’s now spreading throughout the nation.”
