North Korea fires unidentified missile — Analysis

According to Seoul military officials and Japan, North Korea launched a ballistic weapon off its east coast. However, the precise munition that was used for the test is still unknown.
“North Korea fired one (short-range) projectile, which is presumed to be a ballistic missile, from an inland region into the East Sea today [January 5] at around 08:10 am,”South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff made a statement, which was also quoted in local media.
They stated that military personnel are maintaining “readiness posture in preparation for additional launches”together with their allies in the US, will monitor closely the situation.

Japan’s Coast Guard also announced a North Korean ballistic missile launch early on Wednesday morning, though it offered few details, according to Reuters.
This weapons test was reported just days after South Korean President Moon Jaein reiterated his vows to strengthen ties with the neighboring north. There were also discussions of making a peace declaration in order to formalize the end to Korea War II, which never ended with an armistice or treaty. Pyongyang recently stated that it will seek to strengthen its defenses. “without delay,”This is a sign of regional tensions in the region and instability internationally.
