Missing Hiker’s Body Found in Park With Dog by His Side

LOS ANGELES — A hiker who went missing two weeks ago was found dead in Griffith Park with his dog by his side, authorities said.

Oscar Alejandro Hernandez (29), was reported missing March 16. He was discovered dead in an area far from the urban sprawling park on Thursday evening. King, the dog that he was with, was found alive and well.

He apparently hadn’t left Hernandez’s side for two weeks, a relative told KNBC-TV. According to Sergeant. Ruben Arellano is a watch commander for the Griffith Park station.

Hernandez was last seen near the park merry-go-round’s hiking trails, according to a missing person flier posted by his family.

His cause of death was not immediately known. Arellano indicated that there was no cause for suspicion of foul play.
