Minister reveals what could prevent full Partygate report being published — Analysis

Liz Truss claims “security issues” may make the report “problematic to publish”

Speaking to Sky News on Wednesday, the Foreign Secretary suggested that Sue Gray’s full report into the Partygate scandal may never be published.

Gray’s investigation is expected this week despite the Met Police opening their own probe into a “a number of events” held at Downing Street which potentially breached Covid restrictions in place at the time.

This senior civil servant was trusted by the government to conduct an investigation into whether Boris Johnson, UK PM, had violated his rules while attending Downing Street gatherings.

According to media reports the Met Police stated that Gray was entitled to release her report without delay because of their investigation.

Truss countered that “security issues”Parts of Gray Report may be interpreted as “problematic to publish.”

“We don’t know the content of the report, so there could be, for example, security issues that mean parts of it are problematic to publish. But we will absolutely publish the findings of the report,”She stated.

Truss is a favourite to replace Johnson in his post. She claimed that she wasn’t invited to the May 20th gathering. This has been particularly embarrassing for Johnson. Johnson was only briefly present at the Downing Street staff outdoor party.
