Kamala Harris is ‘honestly useless’ – US congresswoman — Analysis

Rep. Mayra Flores won a surprise victory in an Hispanic area. She praised the vice-president for handling the border.

Kamala Harris, Vice President has been “honestly useless”Fox News interviewed Mayra Flowers (Texas), a Republican representative, about her efforts to control the US border between Mexico and the United States. Flores won a seat that her Democratic predecessor had comfortably won two years back in a special election.

Flores beat Dan Sanchez, Democratic candidate in the special election. Flores won 51% of votes in the district that was won in 2016 by Democratic Rep. Filemon Vela. Flores will be representing this area in 2020. Flores’ district, which sits in the Rio Grande Valley bordering Mexico, is 85% Hispanic, has been represented by Vela since 2012, and voted for Democrats in the last three presidential elections.

Flores’ victory is being interpreted by some analysts as a sign that voters are unhappy with the Democratic Party’s border policies, and Flores herself singled out Harris for criticism on Thursday.

Biden's ratings crater but VP’s are even lower – poll

“She’s honestly useless,”Flores stated. “I don’t know why she’s in that position. She hasn’t been here in south Texas to see what their policies are creating, the mess that they’re creating in our country, and that their policies are hurting real people.”

US President Joe Biden tapped Harris in 2021 for a crisis at the US-Mexico Border. After Biden ended former President Donald Trump’s ‘Remain in Mexico’ policy and reinstated the Obama-era policy of ‘Catch and Release’, the number of migrants interdicted along the US’ southern border nearly tripled during the president’s first six months in office. As Republicans charged Biden with ignoring the issue, huge shanty towns of migrants were built along border crossings.

Harris visited the border region once while serving as Biden’s ‘border czar’, and the last migration-related event held by the vice president took place in January, when she met with Honduran President Xiomara Castro to discuss the “root causes of migration.” Meanwhile, illegal border crossings reached a record 239,416 last month – not counting those who evaded detection – and this year’s illegal entries are on track to pass last year’s total of 1.7 million within the coming weeks.

Flores was born in Mexico, but immigrated to America as a young child. She made border security a central part of her campaign. Flores’ television advertisements portrayed her marital status to Border Patrol agents and charged Democrats in Washington with putting Rio Grande Valley at risk. “under attack.” As Flores is currently finishing out Vela’s term, she will have to fight for her seat again in November, in a redrawn district map that is believed to favor her Democrat opponent, Vincente Gonzalez Jr.
