Governor sees ‘miracle’ in devastating Colorado fires — Analysis

The state governor discovered some silver linings amid the destruction caused by wildfires in Colorado.

Jared Polis, Governor of Colorado has stated that there have been no reported deaths from wildfires which claimed more than 500 properties.

“We may have our own New Year’s miracle on our hands if it holds up that there was no loss of life,”Polis spoke at Friday’s press conference.

Joe Pelle from Boulder County stated that earlier, the fires had destroyed 500 homes as well as entire subdivisions. According to authorities, the burn area contains approximately 2,000 homes. Authorities believe that up to 50% of them may have been badly affected by the fires.

Tens of thousands were forced from their homes by Thursday’s storm, with Louisville and Superior being the first ones to go. Photos show that a Tesla plant was almost destroyed. 

Many people in the state are still without electricity. Official investigation is ongoing into the fire. Authorities have stated that high winds gusting to 105 mph spread the flames likely from downed powerlines.

“The origin of the fire hasn’t been confirmed. It’s suspected to be power lines,” Pelle said. 

Governor Polis indicated that he spoke to President Joe Biden on Friday about the matter and that he shared his concerns. “regards” “support”Colorado citizens are offered federal assistance while damage reports and other paperwork are being prepared. 

Flammables may still be visible as of Friday morning. Officials say they expect snowfall to help the area soon. 

The Colorado Fires will not cause additional damage due to the snow incoming, although the affected area is approximately 6,000 acres.
