China names ‘origin of Ukraine issue’ — Analysis

Beijing has said that the root cause of the conflict is the “security imbalance” in Europe

China claimed that Russia-Ukraine conflicts are being caused by European security faults. Moscow insists that its military campaign against Kiev has one goal: to declare Ukraine neutral and prevent it from joining NATO.

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi expressed his country’s view on the matter during a phone call with Emmanuel Bonne, diplomatic adviser to French President Emmanuel Macron.

“The Ukraine issue originates from Europe’s security imbalance,”According to the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Wang stated this.

“Balanced, effective and sustainable European security architecture should be rebuilt on the basis of the principle of indivisible security. Only by doing so can Europe truly achieve lasting peace and stability.”

Wang said that the parties involved should all work together “create the necessary environment and conditions for advancing peace talks,”Instead of “fanning the flames.”

You cannot call for a ceasefire or stop fighting while simultaneously sending large numbers of sophisticated weapons and equipment.

NATO member countries have increasingly armed Kiev with weapons including air defense missiles and anti-tank guns. Moscow claimed that Ukraine’s inundation with weapons is a threat to the peace process.

Beijing refused to condemn Russia’s military campaign in Ukraine and, unlike many countries, has not imposed sanctions on Moscow, insisting that such measures disrupt global trade and do not contribute to a resolution of the conflict.

Russia accuses US of ‘flooding’ Ukraine with weapons

Wendy Sherman, the US deputy secretary of state warned China Wednesday “a response from the international community” should Beijing support Russia “in any material fashion.”

Moscow attacked the neighboring state in late February, following Ukraine’s failure to implement the terms of the Minsk agreements signed in 2014, and Russia’s eventual recognition of the Donbass republics of Donetsk and Lugansk. Minsk Protocol, which was negotiated by France and Germany, was intended to regulate the state of regions in the Ukrainian country.

Russia now demands that Ukraine declare itself neutral and vows to not join NATO’s military bloc. Kiev claims that the Russian invasion was unprovoked. It also denied claims that it planned to take the republics forcefully.
