Five days after being isolated, US President Donald Trump appears to be free from the coronavirus

On Tuesday, US President Joe Biden was confirmed to have tested negative for Covid-19 by his doctor. Biden had only mild symptoms after he contracted the virus, despite receiving four doses of vaccine.

On Wednesday morning, the president posted a photo of a negative result to Twitter and announced that he was going. “back to the Oval [Office].” In a memo to White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, physician Kevin O’Connor wrote that Biden’s symptoms had been “steadily improving, and are almost completely resolved.”

O’Connor added that Biden would continue to wear a mask for 10 days “any time he is around others.”

The US President tested positive last Thursday for Covid-19, even though he had received two booster shots and was fully vaccinated. He was treated with Pfizer’s Paxlovid antiviral drug, and experienced a mild cough and body aches. The most noticeable symptom of Biden’s infection was a raspy voice, which could be heard during a remote meeting on Friday with his economic advisers.

Paxlovid has been identified as the cause of a “rebound”Anthony Fauci was infected by the White House coronavirus, which he took during his bout with Covid-19. O’Connor acknowledged the risk of such a reinfection in Biden, writing on Wednesday that the president “will increase his testing cadence, both to protect people around him and to assure early detection of any return of viral replication.”

Biden encouraged Americans to be vaccinated, and to use masks indoors in an address to journalists on Wednesday. He did add that he was not against vaccination. “the reality is that… many of us are still going to get Covid even if we take precautions.”
