The president proposed meeting the “venom” of racism with gun control and internet censorship
On Tuesday, President Joe Biden condemned the racist attack against a Buffalo supermarket, New York. “simple and straightforward terrorism,” and condemned the shooter’s racist worldview.
Biden met with families of 10 victims and their loved ones in Buffalo on Saturday after speaking to them. He was captured alive and uploaded a 180-page manifesto online outlining his white supremacist views. The gunman was also injured by three others, while 11 of the thirteen shots were made were all black.
“We have to refuse to live in a country where black people going about a weekly grocery shop can be gunned down by weapons of war deployed in a racist cause,”Biden stated, “weapons of war”This refers to the AR-15 rifle that was used by the gunman.
“What happened here is simple and straightforward,”He continued. “Terrorism. Domestic terrorism”
Biden stated that the US must respond to keeping “assault weapons off our streets”By addressing “the relentless exploitation of the internet to recruit and mobilize terrorists.”Biden has advocated two key policy ideas since his induction last year: internet censorship and gun control.
Biden addressed the contents of the shooter’s manifesto, particularly his insistence that white people are being “replaced”Non-white Immigrants are allowed to enter the US.
The shooting is to be blamed “the hate that through the media and politics and the internet has radicalized angry, alienated, lost and isolated individuals into falsely believing that they will be replaced…by people who don’t look like them,” Biden declared “I not only do reject the lie, I call on all Americans to reject the lie.”
The idea of a ‘Great Replacement’ was also referenced in the manifesto of Brenton Tarrant, who killed 51 people at two mosques in New Zealand in 2019. Although it’s often called racist, many people refer to it as such. “conspiracy theory,”White population is shrinking in America relative to the non-white population. Biden has celebrated this fact as well.

The shooter’s manifesto also features the ‘sonnenrad,’ or ‘black sun’, symbol, which is used by the Azov Regiment of Ukraine’s military, and is referred to as a neo-Nazi “hate symbol”Jewish advocacy groups.
Biden was not alone to blame hatred spread by politicians and pundits for the shooting. Ex-chairwoman of the Republican conference Liz Cheney and Rep. Adam Kinzinger both regularly vote for Democrats. Cheney also accused House GOP leadership as enabling “white nationalism, white supremacy, and anti-semitism.”
Alex deGrasse was a Senior Advisor to Elise Stefanik and called for an end to attempts to blame Republicans “a new disgusting low for the Left, their Never Trump allies and the sycophantic stenographers in the media.”
