American, IndiGo Announce Codeshare Plans

American Airlines will codeshare with Indian low-cost carrier IndiGo when it begins new routes to India later this year, the carrier announced.
Indian and U.S. governments must approve this codeshare agreement. It will allow American to use IndiGo’s code for 29 IndiGo domestic flights departing from Delhi and Bengaluru (formerly known as Bangalore). American will launch a new service on October 31 between New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport (NYC) and Delhi. American service between Seattle & Bengaluru is scheduled to start on January 4, 2022.
American first announced the Bengaluru flight in early 2020 as the only direct flight between Seattle and India as well as the only direct North American service to Bengaluru, though the pandemic has delayed the launch.
American customers will be eligible for AAdvantage points when they travel on codeshare IndiGo flights. American Flagship Business passengers can also access IndiGo partner lounges at Indian airports.
