3 Skincare Steps to Take After Spending the Day in the Sun

The sun is out, the weather is hot, and what else to do but enjoy the great outdoors? But with the sun’s warm rays come many other concerns- like how to protect your skin from harmful UVB and UVA rays.

1st Step: Cleansing the Face

Cleansing the face is one of the essential steps to keeping your skin looking its best. Face washes, gel cleansers, and foam cleansers are all widely used cleansers that remove makeup, dirt, and oil.

Before washing your face, remove makeup with a wipe first. Wipe off eyeliner or brows as they’re especially prone to rubbing in a while being exposed to UV rays. Even if you’re using a light moisturizer, make sure to wash it off with a makeup remover.

Since many cleansers contain natural ingredients like lime, lemon, and bitterness, you can easily mix them into your favorite facial cream. Tea tree oil is an excellent choice and makes it a gel base.

After washing your face like this, you should dry your face with a clean towel and apply facial toner.

2nd Step: Moisturizing

Once your face has been cleaned, it is time to moisturize. Moisturizing helps prevent dehydration and also makes your skin soft and smooth.

To choose the best moisturizer, you need to see your skin type.

If you have dry or sensitive skin, look for lotions or creams that contain natural ingredients like aloe vera or tea tree oil. If those don’t work for you, try using a facial oil instead, like rosehip seed oil. It is filled with vitamin A, which will help your skin retain moisture for more extended periods.

However, if you have a combination of oily skin, look for moisturizing products that contain oil-free ingredients.

The best type of lotion hydrates while it provides the right amount of oil to keep your skin looking great and smooth. You can choose between a light cream or a heavier one made with aloe vera gel.

3rd Step: Protecting

After moisturizing, you should now protect your skin. Sunscreen is one of the essential skincare steps to take because it prevents premature aging, wrinkles, and pigmentation. A layer of sunscreen can be applied to the face twice daily after a bath or shower.

To find the best sunscreen for you, check out ingredients and UV ratings on the tube or bottle before purchasing a product. Be careful to use sunscreen correctly, as oversaturation will only worsen your skin.

Always apply sunscreen 30 minutes before going outside. Apply at least two times per day. Sunscreen should have an SPF of 30-50, and thinner formulas with little or no tint are best for sensitive skin.

To get the most protection you can, choose a formula containing zinc or titanium oxide, both natural sunscreen ingredients. These ingredients absorb UV rays and protect your skin from harmful UVA and UVB rays.

After applying your sunscreen, you should rehydrate your skin with facial cream or lotion that contains moisturizing properties. It helps to seal in the sunblock and prevent any flaking or peeling.
