Russia reports loss of warplane in Ukraine — Analysis

Russian Air Forces has lost a Sukhoi Su-25 near air support plane during the offensive in Ukraine. This was confirmed by the Russian defense ministry on Thursday. It gave the blame to the pilot who was forced from the aircraft. The plane is now being recovered.

As he updated the media on ongoing conflict in Ukraine, Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov, the spokesperson for the ministry said that the pilot who made the mistake of losing the warplane was being evacuated.

Russia began its attack on Ukraine Thursday morning. President Vladimir Putin stated the goals as “denazification” and demilitarization of the country. Defense ministry stated that it targeted the Ukrainian military infrastructure through precision strikes.

Kiev claimed the attack was causing serious harm to Russian troops. Ukrainian officials claim that Russia has lost 6 to 7 warplanes as well as several helicopters and 10 tanks. Russian military did not respond to these claims.
