LOS ANGELES — Rapper A$AP Rocky was taken into custody Wednesday morning at Los Angeles International Airport in connection with a shooting in Hollywood last year, authorities said.
Rakim Mayers is the performer. He was taken into custody on Wednesday for allegedly assaulting with a deadly instrument, according to Los Angeles Police Department.
Authorities said that Mayers (33) was wanted for a shooting incident on Nov. 6, 2021, following an escalated argument. According to police, Mayers is charged with firing a pistol at an acquaintance. He suffered a slight injury but was able to seek medical attention later.
According to police, Mayers ran with two other men after the gunfire.
Mayers’ RCA Records publicist and attorney did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
