The Italian police union has despatched a letter to the Inside Ministry insisting the pink Covid-19 masks with which officers have been issued threat damaging their repute.
Legislation enforcement officers’ masks ought to be black, white, or blue, consistent with their uniform, the union asserted this week.
They requested why, two years into the pandemic, it hadn’t been potential to supply extra appropriate alternate options.
“We don’t perceive the rationale behind the acquisition of masks in a colour that would seem, at first sight, to be unsuitable for our administration,” the letter reads. It describes the pink masks provision as “puzzling.”
In response to Italian media retailers, union chief Osvaldo Paoloni maintains that a part of the oath of a police officer is to put on the uniform with decorum always and the colour of the offered masks undermines that.
“We imagine that clothes and accessories used have to be applicable and in step with the uniform,” he acknowledged.
