IOC won’t pressure China on human rights ahead of Beijing Olympics

The remarks, made by IOC vice president John Coates in his native Australia on Wednesday, come as human rights groups have called for a boycott of the Beijing Games to protest China’s official campaign of repression against Uyghurs and other minority groups, as well as its crackdown on Hong Kong. A number of U.S. legislators have also called for America’s withdrawal.
