Helicopter crashes near crowded beach (VIDEO) — Analysis
Miami Beach Police shared this video that shows the helicopter hitting the water near swimmers and sunbathing crowds.
Following a helicopter accident in Miami Beach on Saturday afternoon, two people were taken to the hospital. Police released video footage of the incident.
The Miami Beach Police Department said that it received a call about the crash in South Beach around 1:10pm local time. The area between 9th Street & 11th Street was closed to visitors as officials from multiple agencies responded.
The helicopter is seen quickly falling and hitting the sea near a group of beachgoers.
MBPD was notified by the Coast Guard that a helicopter had crashed in the Atlantic near 10 Street. Officers and @MiamiBeachFireAlong with many partner agencies, they responded quickly to the call. According to police, there were three people aboard the plane that crashed. Two of them had to be taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital. According to police, the victims were in stable condition while the third was not reported to have sustained any injuries. Also, there were no injuries reported from the ground.
Officials identified the Robinson R44 helicopter. Investigators were able to identify the helicopter as a Robinson R44.
