Disney World Pauses Vaccine Mandate for Employees

Bloomberg — According to local television reports, Walt Disney World has stopped mandating vaccinations for cast members and employees.

“We believe that our approach to mandatory vaccines has been the right one as we’ve continued to focus on the safety and well-being of our Cast Members and Guests,” the spokesperson said in an email. “At this point, more than 90 percent of active Florida-based Cast Members have already verified that they are fully vaccinated.”

Those who aren’t vaccinated will be required to wear face masks and practice social distancing, Fox 35 reported.

This decision came just days after Ron DeSantis, Florida governor signed legislation restricting employer mandates for Covid vaccination. DeSantis is adamantly against mandates to use vaccines or masks in the current pandemic.

Fox 35 spoke to Nick Catuano about a memo he received from Disney World informing him and the other cast members of the pause. Fox 35 claimed it received a copy. The memo stated that the pause would be in place while Disney World evaluates new state laws.
