Beijing kicks off ‘unprecedented’ drills around Taiwan
The People’s Liberation Army embarked on major war games following a high-level US trip to Taiwan
According to state media, the Chinese military began a massive round of military drills close to Taiwan. This was in response to Nancy Pelosi, US House Speaker, having visited Taiwan recently.
The live-fire exercises kicked off on Thursday afternoon, China’s CGTN reported, citing the Eastern Theater Command of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA). The drills are not yet known, though the military stated that they would be carried out in six key areas within the waters around Taiwan.
