4 Tips for Choosing Comfortable Sports Shoes

If you participate in any sports that require you to use your feet, then you’ll need to make sure you have a good pair of sports shoes. There are a few things you need to look out for when choosing your shoes, as it will impact not only your performance, but also play a factor in how many injuries you sustain, too. Whether you’re looking for a new pair of Yonex Badminton Shoes or some great running shoes, keep reading to learn my top 4 tips for choosing comfortable sports shoes.

1. Look for Breathable ShoesHave you ever had sweaty feet? It’s not a pleasant experience. When you’re hitting the pavement, 10km into a run, the last thing you want to deal with is your sweaty feet sliding around your shoes. Look for shoes that have breathable components to them, especially in the toe bed. This might look like features such as mesh, or fabric with small holes so that air can easily flow.

2. Get the Right Size
This might sound obvious, but many people do not get the right shoe size. Many people would be better suited to wearing half sizes than sticking to full sizes. You want your toes to be close to the edge of the shoe but with a small amount of breathing room. Likewise, if you have very wide feet it may be necessary that you look for a brand that caters to wider feet so your toes have ample room.

3. Consider Industry Specific Shoes
I find it better to buy specific shoes where possible. If you’re playing badminton, you’re going to have different needs to a cyclist or a football player. For that reason, I find it better to stick to shoes that are designed with your sports in mind. Yes, sometimes you can get away with general sports shoes, but they will often be missing features or made of materials that are not as compatible as the industry specific shoes.

4. Look For Sufficient Cushion
Because the very nature of sports is to be moving around a lot faster and with more vigor than we do in our day to day lives, cushioning and support is even more important for a sports shoe. Make sure that there’s a light airy feeling when you use your shoes. That absorption will go a long way in preventing substantial injuries.

Choosing a great pair of sports shoes doesn’t have to be difficult. I hope these tips help you choose a pair that will help you perform at your best and feel great doing so.
