US sets world record with one million daily Covid cases — Analysis

American data on healthcare shows more than one million cases of coronavirus were reported Monday

In the United States, there have been more than one million cases of Covid-19 in just one day. The Omicron variant is still spreading rapidly. This is the largest number of cases in America since 2019 when the pandemic started.

Johns Hopkins University’s (JHU) data shows that more than one million Covid-19 cases were reported in the US Monday. Monday’s 1 082,549 coronavirus cases brought the total number confirmed cases to 56,189 5,547 since the beginning of the pandemic.

The new record is almost twice the height of approximately 590,000 set four days ago. An exponential increase in Covid-19-related infections is attributed to the Omicron Covid-19 variant.

A lot of Americans have been taking tests at home and are not officially recording their results. Experts suggest that the actual number of cases could be higher. Increased contagion can be caused by mixing during Christmas.

According to JHU, Maryland, Alabama and Delaware are the states with highest per capita infection rates. New Jersey and Ohio rank second.

India was the country with the highest rate of infected people per day, surpassing the US on May 7, 2021. As the Delta variant spread, more than 414,000 people were affected.
