Surprise Democratic candidate rumored to run in 2024 instead of Biden — Analysis
Newt Gingrich, former House Speaker, is the latest Republican to predict a presidential election in 2024. He told Fox News that he thinks Hillary Clinton can lead Democrats again.
During a Wednesday appearance on ‘The Ingraham Angle,’ Gingrich blasted President Joe Biden and pointed to his handling of the economy, Covid-19 and the border crisis as the reasons behind bad polling numbers.
“I fully expect Biden not to run again,”Gingrich spoke out about the potential 2024 presidential ticket. The Democrat Party would win if Biden (now 79) ran for reelection. “in a state of shock,”He concluded.
Kamala Harris, Vice President of Kamala Harris “weaker”Gingrich is more optimistic than Biden and polls similarly low. She believes that 2016 Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton could again run, possibly setting up a rematch against former President Donald Trump. Many pundits predicted Trump would likely run again.
“I think the Democratic Party would be in a state of shock if [Biden ran]. I think Kamala Harris is weaker than Biden,” Gingrich said. “So, the latest rumor I heard was that Hillary’s gonna run. And I think that would say a lot about the chaos of America if Hillary Clinton reemerged one more time.”
President Biden and other Democrats have insisted he plans on running again in 2024, though critics have questioned the president’s advanced age and numerous public gaffes. Biden suggested this week that he will run again if his health is good and that Trump could still run once more.
“But look, I’m a great respecter of fate – fate has intervened in my life many, many times. If I’m in the health I’m in now – I’m in good health – then in fact I would run again,”He said.
Clinton, who has an online ‘MasterClass’ where she reads what was meant to be her presidential victory speech, has predicted Trump will run again, though she has not indicated if she would consider running once more.
Trump said that he made the decision privately on 2024. His supporters are happy about it.
