Snowden is unimpressed with Bezos’ spending habits — RT World News

Jeff Bezos, a fan of private rockets and superyachts, is “ruthlessly unimaginative,” Edward Snowden has said, pointing out that with his fortune, the billionaire could “even pay for a union” if he wanted to.

The fugitive whistleblower and privacy advocate dunked on one of the world’s richest people on Twitter over his reported new toy, a $500 million yacht that is set to break several records once it is finally delivered next year. This super-pretentious yacht made the headlines after photos of it were revealed in the Netherlands last month.

Project 721, or Y721, is the name of the yacht being constructed by Oceanco. The boat was recently pulled via the river Zwijndrecht (Belgium) to Alblasserdam (Netherlands). It is widely believed that the yacht was commissioned by Bezos. However, this has not been proven.

Snowden voiced his dismay at the way that Amazon founder Jeff Bezos was spending his vast wealth. “boring baby cruise ship.”

“You could construct vertical gardens the size of skyscrapers—in the greatest cities of the world. The ocean floor could be colonized! Nothing is impossible,”He thought.

Bezos belongs to an elite group of billionaires who have the means to afford private space programs. Blue Origin’s goal to transform suborbital space flights into entertainment for the rich is being criticised by some. The firm’s spacecraft has a distinctively phallic form.

Some people pointed out that he funds other, less mundane projects like the Clock of the Long Now. It is a massive mechanism which measures time over 10,000 year. A full-scale prototype is being constructed inside a mountain on Bezos’ land in Texas, and he reportedly invested $42 million into the project.
