North Korea launched a suspected ballistic missile towards the Sea of Japan on Saturday morning – the ninth such missile test this year – according to the governments of Japan and South Korea.

Saturday’s launch was North Korea’s ninth missile test this year. Last Sunday saw a North Korean missile launch toward the Sea of Japan. Seven missile launches were also recorded during January.
Antonio Guterres, UN Secretary-General, warned North Korea in February that their January 30 launch of the Intermediate Range Ballistic Missile Hwasong-12 (IRBM), Hwasong-12 missile toward the Sea of Japan was a violation of international law.
