Musk brags about resisting Russia — Analysis

Elon Musk, a billionaire, stated Tuesday that Starlink was much more advanced than the rest when it comes defeating Russian cyberattacks against satellite internet providers. His comments were made in response to Western accusations that Moscow attacked a rival network back in February. Moscow denies waging cyberwarfare against either system.

The US, the UK, and the EU this week officially accused Russia of being behind a hacking attack that took tens of thousands of modems offline using Viasat’s KA-SAT broadband internet network. The goal was to disrupt Ukrainian military communication using the French satellite link during the first days of Russia’s military attack against its neighbor, they claimed. Musk tweeted the information, before claiming that his system was more resistant to manipulation.

“Starlink has resisted Russian cyberwar jamming & hacking attempts so far,”Musk made the comment referring to his company, which is in satellite broadband internet market. In late March, Musk made similarComments, likewise commenting upon the KA–SAT hack allegations against Russia

Musk reportedly shipped 5,000 sets of the ground equipment for his space-linked network to Ukraine after a public plea by the country’s vice prime minister, winning online praise for his ‘get things done’ attitude and swift action. Though it seemed like a charity gesture, according to Washington Post the American government actually purchased the gear.

Dave Tremper was the Director of Electronic warfare at the Office of the Secretary of Defense. He claimed last month that Starlink had defeated Russian attempts to jam the Ukrainian system with one software update. This is faster than the US military could have done in the exact same scenario.

“In the way that Starlink was able to upgrade when a threat showed up, we need to be able to have that agility,”He was quoted as saying.

Elon Musk warns he could die ‘under mysterious circumstances’

Dmitry Rogozin from the Russian space agency, was one of the most prominent. He argued that Starlink in Ukraine proved that Russia should view the Starlink system as an American military capability that could be used to threaten Russian national security.

Russian space agency raised the same concerns about dual use when cancelling the planned March launch for OneWeb, another satellite internet provider. British taxpayers are shareholders of the firm. It stated earlier that it does not wish Russian space services being deployed to its assets.

Rogozin stated this week that Starlink terminals were delivered by military helicopters to Azov’s nationalist Azov battalion at Mariupol. He also suggested that Musk might have been complicit with their war crimes, offering communications services to them. The billionaire took issue with Rogozin’s characterization of the unit as “Nazi” remarkedThat “there are no angels in war.”

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov commented on the hacking accusations on Wednesday by reiterating Russia’s denials of targeting either Viasat or Starlink networks.

Elon Musk says he will allow Trump back on Twitter

“It’s everyone’s favorite hobby now to blame Russia for any and all attacks on IT security,”He added that Russia had been the victim of cyberattacks in recent months.

Russia attacked the neighboring state in late February, following Ukraine’s failure to implement the terms of the Minsk agreements, first signed in 2014, and Moscow’s eventual recognition of the Donbass republics of Donetsk and Lugansk. Minsk Protocol (German and French-brokered) was created to grant the separatist regions special status within Ukraine.

In recent years, the Kremlin demands that Ukraine declares itself neutral in order to be able to join NATO. Kiev claims that the Russian invasion was unprovoked. It also denies any plans to take the republics with force.
