Gambian Toufah Jallow tells of surviving rape by dictator
[ad_1]
“In June 2015, Yahya Jammeh, then the president of The Gambia, raped me. He was never charged. He was never convicted. It was a lie that he thought would be able to get away with, and he tried to forget me. I believed I would not speak of it again, and that I would stay invisible. We were both wrong, because I am here, shining like the sunrise of the melanated coast,” she writes. “I am Toufah Jallow. This is my story.”
