The minister of health in France said that there were 1,300 resignations from the French healthcare sector. This is amid reports that 20% of French hospitals had closed due to staff shortages. It is not known what the cause of this problem may be.

Olivier Veran, Minister of Health, spoke to journalists on Thursday. saidHis office attempted to explain the spike in resignations, which will lead to many hospitals being short-staffed during the hectic autumn-winter.

“Among nurses, there are 1,300 resignations recorded,”Veran said on Thursday that this problem wasn’t unique to European countries. He pointed out that many nurses joined the medical profession right during the pandemic and speculated that exhaustion could have played a role in their exit.

The minister’s comments came after numerous reports in the French media that hospitals were struggling to cope due to a lack of caregivers. Veran rejected the 20% number, but it seems that the true figure was closer to 5%. Veran requested an investigation into the reasons for the resignations.

Although hospitalizations in France have decreased since the coronavirus vaccines became available, it has been difficult for the French to contain the outbreak. France banned 3,000 non-vaccinated workers from the health sector in September for failing to get a Covid-19 vaccination as per new regulations.
