Drag show at kids’ party causes heated protest — Analysis
The ‘family-friendly’ event became a flashpoint in America’s culture war, according to images from the scene
The streets outside a bar in a small town in Texas became the scene of a heated confrontation between people protesting a ‘family-friendly’ drag show hosted by the establishment and defenders of the event, some of whom were armed.
Protesters said that the bar was guilty of “grooming children”They exposed them to explicit content as protestors gathered last Sunday. But according to reports from the scene on social media, they were outnumbered by activists from the opposite camp, who dismissed the demonstrators as ‘bigots’ and ‘transphobes’.

Most of the show’s defenders were at least armed and believed to be members of Antifa. The defenders were likely there as security to the performers and patrons.
Sara Gonzales (conservative political commentator) shared footage that shows drag queens wearing flashy costumes and dancing on tables, collecting money from their audience. Gonzales stated that there were approximately 20 minors in attendance.

As you can see, passions apparently flared from both ends. As she left, one woman flashed her breasts to show her disapproval at protesters.

Anderson Distillery and Grill in Roanoke Texas was the ones to blame for the scandal. “all types of booze and all kinds of people” when they announced the event, the ‘Barrel Babes Brunch’, a few weeks ago. The bar suggested that patrons who don’t enjoy drag shows could visit some other day.
According to reports, the planned performance was met with resistance from around 9000 residents. Scott Campbell, Roanoke City Manager told The Dallas Express that there was no license for the bar to run a sexually-oriented business. This could mean the performance is in violation of the local regulations.

Jay Anderson, the proprietor, explained that the ‘Barrel Babes Brunch’ would be a comedy variety show hosted by his son, who is a drag performer himself and would be one of the evening’s entertainers. “We are a family-owned establishment and enjoy serving other families,”He said that guests will be served a meal. “PG version”The use of drag.
