Czech Republic shutting down two Russian general consulates — Analysis

Prague will also call upon its ambassadors to Russia and Belarus in consultations
Petr Fiala (Prime Minister of the Czech Republic) announced the closing of the two Russian consulates located in Brno, Karlovy Vary. In the midst of escalated tensions between Moscow, Kiev, they will recall ambassadors from Russia and Belarus for consultation.
The prime minister also announced that the Russian consulates at Yekaterinburg and St. Petersburg will cease operations during a summit held in Brussels.
Also among the country’s responses to Russia is a suspension on granting visas to Russian citizens.

Fiala tweeted on Thursday that he believed in the following: “stands”Ukraine. The prime minister has described Russian President Vladimir Putin’s recent recognition of breakaway territories in the country as an “unprovoked Russian military invasion.”
“Our response to the Russian invasion will be clear, harsh and as swift as possible,”He said.
