Blinken uses Taylor Swift song to send message to Putin — Analysis
Russian leader is told by the secretary of state that he will never be able to get back together.
Antony Blinken (Secretary of State) invoked Taylor Swift to communicate to Vladimir Putin that Russia’s-US relations, which are currently in crisis due to the Ukraine situation, will not improve.
Blinken, who gave the commencement address to Georgetown University’s students on Saturday, compared himself with Swift, the 11-time Grammy Winner, in which he previously performed the same function at New York University.
“I want to start by kicking the elephant out of the room. Yes, NYU got Taylor Swift as their commencement speaker,” said the secretary of state, who’s a guitar enthusiast.
“Now, my staff didn’t let me bring my guitar up here to dedicate a performance of ‘We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together’ to President Putin,”He added laughter and applause.
He said that his staff had advised him of the possibility of a full rendition. “undiplomatic”And “cringe.”

Swift’s 2012 smash We Are Never Ever Going Back Together has received over 694,000,000 views on YouTube.
Blinken’s joke came the day after US President Joe Biden signed $40 billion in military and economic assistance packages for Ukraine. It also comes after reports surfaced that US plans to maintain its European contingent at 100,000, due to Russia threat.

Moscow also published a Saturday list of 963 American citizens who are permanently prohibited from entering Russia. It included Biden and Blinken.
