2 Great Reasons To Be Outside In The Fresh Air

It is proving to be very difficult for most of us during the current pandemic, to be able to stay inside without losing our mind. Up until early this year, we were able to go wherever we wanted and whenever we wanted, but now due to the many restrictions, many of us are confined to our homes for long periods of time. Nobody could blame you for wanting to pull out your hair, but there is a way to follow the rules with regard to social distancing and still get yourself outside into the fresh air. Spending time outside is very good for the brain, the body and the soul. There is a great feeling to be had when you are outdoors in nature and enjoying everything that Mother Nature has to offer.

There is one excellent way that allows you to get out and about and also keeps you safe, and it is biking. You can buy one of Decathlon’s mountain bikes and cycle for kilometre upon kilometre without ever seeing anyone. The countryside is largely unexplored and there are so many locations out there that can only be reached on foot or on a mountain bike. Getting yourself outdoors into the fresh air can only be a good thing and here are some reasons why.

  1. It gives you an energy boost – Various studies have been done that suggest if you spend at least 20 minutes outside in the fresh air, then it gives your brain a much needed energy boost. Rather than reaching for that high caffeine cup of coffee, reach for your mountain bike instead and go for a ride outside. You will find that it’s much easier to exercise outside because you are distracted by all of the beautiful scenery and you just don’t think about all of the effort that you’re putting into your exercise routine. It doesn’t matter if you have a Land Rover or other off-road vehicle, just put your mountain bike on the roof and off you go.
  • It boosts your immune system – If there was ever a time that your immune system needed a boost, then it is now. When you are outside you are breathing in airborne chemicals that are produced by plants and this helps to increase your levels of white blood cells. White blood cells are the very things that help us to fight off infections and other diseases. It has been suggested that aromatherapy is good for the mind and body, and where else are you going to find the best smells that there are, except from the outside.
