Federal Agency Ridicules Abstinence

Massachusetts News Staff

January 5--The federal Centers for Disease Control write and publish manuals for sex education classes in schools. These are prepared at taxpayer expense. This is a sample of what they are telling school children.

• "There are many ways to avoid pregnancy and sexually transmitted disease. You could become a hermit who never talks to anyone or does anything. Or you could avoid pregnancy and disease by being so unpleasant that everyone stays clear of you. Or you could never become involved in a romantic relationship." This is from Reducing the Risk.

• "…transform ways to increase spontaneity…store condoms under the mattress, eroticize condom use with partner, use extra lubricant, use condoms as a method of foreplay, use different colors and types/textures." This is from Be Proud. Be Responsible.

• Another manual, Becoming a Responsible Teen promotes the idea of children serving as trainers for each other by applauding dexterity with condoms and exchanging suggestions about technique.
