Gov. Cellucci Discovers that Political Climate Has Changed

May 2001 - Gov. Cellucci's problems began after Fistgate revealed his sexual policies in the schools. It changed the political climate of the state. When Cellucci was appointed U.S. Ambassador to Canada, the unhappiness of the populace followed him to Washington where he appeared with Sen. Kerry and Kennedy. His nomination was saved only after he gave a written promise to Sen. Helms that he would follow the beliefs of Pres. Bush and not his own. The concerns about Gov.
