Dept. of Public Health Downplays  'Gay Pride Day'

July 2001

The Department of Public Health changed the time and format of its Gay Pride Day last month because Peter Blute stirred up his listeners on WRKO.

This is the Department which sent a person to teach graphic homosexual sex to teenagers at Fistgate along with employees from the Department of Education. It is also the department which is protecting us from the suit for gay marriage.

Many are wondering how the people in charge of Public Health can be encouraging teenagers to practice this type of sex given the problems that homosexuals are having with AIDS, sexually transmitted diseases, typhoid fever, rectal problems and other diseases.

The "Celebration" was originally scheduled during working hours from 2-4 p.m. but after the taxpayers got wind of it, the "celebration" was changed to a talk about the health of homosexuals from 12-1 p.m.

The original announcement to the employees was an email sent by Commissioner Howard K. Koh, M.D., to "Please join me for the Department's Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, & Transgendered PRIDE celebration." He said that, "All DPH employees are welcomed."

The new format was a "PRIDE in health celebration" which featured John Auerbach, Director of the Boston Public Health Commission speaking on "Understanding and Addressing the Public Health Needs of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Populations." It was sponsored by the Department's Diversity Committee.
