Libertarian US Senate Campaign Files Signatures
Carla Howell filed 33,467 nominating signatures

Massachusetts News

Carla Howell's "small government is beautiful" US Senate campaign filed BIG.  Three times as many signatures as required by Massachusetts State Law.

Over 183 petitioners pulled out all the stops to put Carla Howell on the ballot.  In the final 19 days of the petitioning period, the Libertarian US Senate campaign collected 22,529 nominating signatures to bring her total up to 33,467.

"Massachusetts has the most undemocratic ballot access laws in the country for minor and third parties," said Richard Winger, editor of Ballot Access News and expert witness on ballot access laws.  "New York State has the reputation of having the worst primary ballot access in the nation.  But Massachusetts is even worse. Massachusetts has gotten away with its unfair ballot access laws
because the Commonwealth lets Presidential candidates get on the ballot so easily."  (In 1992, H. Ross Perot relied upon the guidance of Richard Winger to get on the ballot in all 50 states, plus DC.)

"Small government is beautiful," said Carla Howell.  "But big ballot drives are gorgeous.  Now it's time to discuss the issues.  Small government Carla Howell vs. Big Government Ted Kennedy."
