Applauds District Attorney Walsh
September 1, 2000 In a statement released today, Maryclare Flynn, Legislative Director of Mass. Citizens for Life, said that “MCFL applauds District Attorney Walsh’s attempts to save the unborn child and his mother. The fact is that there are two people involved in this matter. "We are not just concerned about the baby; we are also concerned about the mother. She has already lost a child in a prior pregnancy. We would want this woman to be protected as well as her unborn child. D.A. Walsh is doing that and should be commended.” Last week, Attleboro Juvenile Court Judge Kenneth Nasif ordered Rebecca
Corneau, 32, held at the Neil J. Houston House in Roxbury, a 15-bed facility
for pregnant and postpartem mothers in trouble with the law, until she
submits to a medical exam or delivers her baby.
