The Big Dig
The
phenomenal cost overruns of the "Big Dig" were projected
by the Beacon Hill Institute as early as 1993, just a few years
after the project began. After we started publishing, we documented
how the Democrats on Beacon Hill suppressed that knowledge for
years. MassNews also reported on the safety concerns of the
tunnels back in 2000.
It is worth remembering that originally, we were promised by
Tip O'Neill that the project, as far as the state was concerned,
was a "Free Gift" from Washington.
