Menino Approves
Review Panel for Police Misconduct
A new “Review
Panel” for misconduct of Boston police has been approved by
Mayor Tom Menino who is in serious trouble because the FBI discovered
the scandal in the mayor's police department and stated they have
“extensive information” about “illegal conduct of
other Boston police officers” and “other public officials.”
Review Panels were popular
in the 1960s and Boston has used them in the past, but this new request
from Menino comes because it is now known that the use of cocaine
and other drugs by the Boston police has been known by Menino for
many years. This would not be public knowledge if it were not for
the FBI.
A request from the three
Boston police officers in the corruption scandal that they be freed
while awaiting trial has been taken under advisement by U.S. Magistrate
Joyce London Alexander after a bail hearing a week ago. The Globe
had to report the results in its paper.
Otherwise, the Globe appears
to be hoping they can just ignore the scandal involving its political
ally, Mayor Menino, and it will die.
Most observers don’t
believe that will happen and they are waiting for the FBI's “second
shoe to drop”.
