Letter to the Editor:
A Republican Majority in Congress is the Only Hope for America
Great Britain, America and
Pakistan successfully thwarted a plot by Islamo-fascists to blow up
10 jet liners simultaneously over the Atlantic Ocean or over American
cities.
The plot was broken in London
where the British police are granted expanded methods in dealing with
terror. Their anti-terrorism
chief said at a news conference that the plot was foiled because “a
large number of people” had been under surveillance, with police monitoring
“spending, travel and communications”.
This caused the Wall Street
Journal to ask whether Scotland Yard have succeeded if the ACLU or
the New York Times had learned the details of the surveillance programs.
Scotland Yard currently
has an additional 70 investigations on terror underway.
Pakistan Foreign Minister, Tasnim Aslam attributed the success
of the operation to the coordination of intelligence between Britain,
Pakistan and the United States.
Our country was helpful in stopping the plot because of our
foreign intelligence surveillance systems, the NSA wire taps and the
tracking of terror financing. These are programs the Democrats fought
hard to curtail.
If the Democrats regain
control of Congress in November, they plan to censure the president
for invoking the Intelligence Surveillance programs that have empowered
the good guys to capture terrorists the world over.
It is highly unlikely the American people want any interference
in a program that, thus far has kept them safe from attack.
President Bush was succinct
when he reminded us: “The nation is at war with Islamic fascists”. Senator Lieberman spoke likewise when
he said “They want to kill any and all of us”. If this isn’t enough to scare an American
nation fearful of a terror attack, consider some of the un-American
comments from Democratics.
It should outrage everyone when the #2 Democrat in the Senate,
Dick Durbin, compared America’s men and women in uniform to “Nazis”,
"Soviets in their gulags" or some mad regime. How about Harry Reid, bragging prematurely
how he had killed the Patriot Act. At a later date the Act did pass and is
a vital tool against terror.
Consider Sen. Kennedy’s disregard for national security. His
constant attacks on our troops have proven he can’t be trusted when
it comes to keeping Americans safe.
These facts should provide
the impetus for the American people to ensure that a Republican majority
be maintained in Congress.
They are our best bet to provide, as they have to date, the
security that people demand to keep them safe.
