John Kerry Sees Terror Threat as another Reason
to Abandon its Fight against Terrorists in Iraq
Sen.
John Kerry stated yesterday that the successful breakup of a massive
terrorist plot by Pakistani and British intelligence units provided
more evidence that the U.S. should abandon its fight against terrorists
in Iraq and come home.
"This
is”, he stated, “a stark reminder that the war on terrorism
is global, and extends far beyond Iraq to our very shores. Terrorism
is the biggest threat to Americans' security, and this event exposes
the misleading myth that we are fighting them over there so we don't
have to fight them here. In fact, the war in Iraq has become a dangerous
distraction, and a profound drain on our financial and military resources.”
Kerry’s
statement left many wondering how a successful bust of an Al Qaeda
terrorist operation overseas before it could be executed could be
construed as a reason for bringing more of our military and intelligence
resources back home, rather than have them abroad where they can find
international terrorists before they can come to the U.S. and cause
harm.
