President Bush Cannot Continue to Ignore his Principle
Enemy, Chuck Schumer, according to Many of Bush's Prominent Supporters
Bush supporters
were extremely upset yesterday to open up their Sunday edition of the
New York Times to read in a major story that Schumer had told the paper
that the President has
made foreign policy a “partisan matter”.
Supporters of the President
were quick to point out that conservatives have been successful in showing
that the Times is no longer a trusted source of news and is controlled
by Pinch Sulzberger, the discredited heir of the paper.
They are upset to see Schumer continue to pummel the President
with the help of the Times, without response from
anyone.
Schumer
is chairman of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, and as
such, is seeking to elect every Democrat he can. Schumer told the Times that: “George Bush decided
to make foreign policy partisan in a way that Ronald Reagan and the
first George Bush never did.”
Supporters of the
President were disturbed because a poll taken by the Times from July
21-25, before the Prime Minister of Iraq had an enthusiastic joint meeting
with Congress on the 26th,
showed that a substantial number of Democrats (24%) believe that the
United States did the right thing in taking military action against
Iraq. That is a large number
of Democrats that don’t agree with Schumer.
The Times
reported that the Prime Minister of Iraq prompted a standing ovation
from a full chamber. Bush supporters
say that the President must not ignore these lies which have become
a regular part of the savage attacks from the Senator of New York.
