Senator
Schumer Continues to Pummel President Bush
Senator
Charles Schumer (D-NY) continues to berate Republicans nationwide
as he raises money for the upcoming fall elections, it was happily
reported by the New York Times yesterday in an ominous article for
the fortunes of Pres, Bush.
As a result, many
observers noted that Bush mustn’t lose any more time in appointing
a response person to specifically answer the energetic and unscrupulous
Schumer who is severely damaging the President.
While Schumer has
raised over $37.7 million for U.S. Senators, the President has had
the hapless Elizabeth Dole raise only half that, $19.9 million as
of the latest filing last Thursday. The Times says that if the President
is unable to close that gap, it will force the RNC to give money to
embattled GOP Senators, which will “create tensions with House Republicans
who want that money used to help them.”
As for comparisons
with Schumer she told the Times: “I didn’t take this job to prove
anything. This is not a P.R. campaign for me. This is not some kind
of contest between Chuck Schumer and Elizabeth Dole.”
She brushed off comparisons
with Schumer and suggested that he was mostly concerned with advancing
his career, but many Republicans wished that was also her goal. Many
are concerned about her poor job and hope that Pres. Bush helps to
motivate her and that he appoints Brit Hume to take on the constant
attacks from Schumer which go unanswered.
